RESPONSE TO GOD’S BLESSINGS – Matthew 8:1-4

What Does it Say?  V2-4  A man with leprosy asked Jesus to heal him and make him clean.  Jesus said He was willing and the leprosy disappeared.  Jesus told him not to tell anyone, let the priest examine him, and give the offering required in the law of Moses.

What Does it Mean?  Jesus had compassion on the leper and healed Him.  God has been very gracious to us too.  He gave us a little dog named Gingi to love.  Last summer we were out camping and she was stolen.  We were devastated and begged God to help us find her.  As the day wore on to evening, we had lost hope of ever seeing her again.  Just before dark we made one last pass around the beach and campsite to find her.  When we arrived at the beach, we asked a couple of rafters that had just come off the river and were waiting for a ride if they had seen a little dog.  They hadn’t, but they told us of a friend of theirs that had found a little dog matching Gingi’s description in a neighboring community.  They called their friend, it was Gingi, and we got her back.  We were thrilled with God's blessing.  I am sure the leper was thrilled to be healed.  Jesus gave the leper instructions for what He wanted him to do - don't tell anyone, let the priest examine Him, and offer sacrifices as commanded in the law of Moses in  Leviticus 14.  It wasn't long after we got Gingi back that we were again complaining because she sheds too much.  I don't think complaining about our blessing is what God had in mind.  Every blessing God gives can be used for His glory if we have an attitude of thanksgiving instead of complaining.  What blessings are you thankful for?  What are you doing with those blessings?
