Who’s the main character in this narrative? It’s not Abraham. It’s not Sarah. It’s not the promised miracle child, Isaac. God is the hero.
He is always the protagonist. Every time Abraham and Sarah forgot that God was the main character things went bad. They took matters into their own hands and made a mess out of things. Their ego, or fear, or selfishness got in the way of what God wanted to do.
It’s no different with you and me. When we forget who the main character in our story is, we try to take the reins from God and chart our own course. We think we can write a better story. What we try to do is take away the hard stuff. We try to write God out of the story. We think freedom means breaking free of God.....
