The truth of what God did for us should change how we do life, which is precisely why Jesus said that if you want to obey all of the commandments, focus on two – Love God, and Love people. That is what Peter is calling us to. He’s calling us to learn from Jesus who is gentle and humble in heart. He is calling us to respond to his invitation to live differently than what our feelings tell us. He’s calling us to something higher than what our natural inclination is.
He’s calling us to gird up the loins of our minds and prepare for the hard work of cleaning the toxic waste from our minds and hearts, and to love with an unconditional kind of love - no strings attached.
