Proverbs gives us some indicators that we are on the wrong path. For example, do we trust our own thinking more than God’s wisdom? Are we willing to seek wise counsel, or do we mock God with our actions, attitudes, and self-building aptitude? Jesus also tells us that we are on shaky ground when we are not open to His instruction. We can easily become people who think we are always right and yet be on the foolish path to our own demise. This means that smart and intellectual people can be fools. Why? Foolishness is doing what is right in your own eyes instead of what God has revealed for us. The question we all need to ask ourselves is: “Are we wise, or are we fools according to Jesus?”
