How do we have intimacy with God? What does it mean to draw near to Him? Our relationship with God can feel like it changes with the seasons of life or even the weather. It can feel like it ebbs and flows. We need to remember that genuine intimacy with God is not simply a feeling that we equate with a romantic relationship. It goes much deeper than emotion, down to our very souls, and is reflected by our rhythms and actions. This week we will be looking at the book of James, which tells us that our intimacy with God and others will be disrupted and even destroyed by unrepentant sin. True intimacy grows as we draw near to God, knowing that He has promised to draw near to us. It’s also sustained with regular confession and repentance. This year, let’s seek to be people that draw near to God.
